OBJECTIVES

To understand the epidemiology and risk factors for VTE, including various prothrombotic circumstances (e.g. surgeries, active cancer) as well as the associated burden and outcomes in these patients

To share the latest data from randomized controlled trials and real-world studies of anticoagulants and antithrombotic drugs, especially NOACs, in patients with or at risk of VTE including cancer-associated VTE

To discuss practical considerations in the management of VTE, including different patient characteristics and treatment needs (e.g. bridging therapy, special precautions, patient risk stratification) that influence clinical decisions
